Project Goals

As with many design students, I created a brand for myself during my schooling that screamed “Identity Crisis!” and did not really depict me as a professional.

The aim of my rebranding was to bring my personality onto paper so that people can get a sampling of my work and I without ever meeting me. I also extended the identity into the website you are currently on and did a bit of User Experience Design even though I used Squarespace as a rough outline.

Logo

With roots in artistry, I take special care of producing the best work possible in every project that crosses my path. In order to allude to this, I created the hands in a form of a hug in the primary logo.

Icons

The additional icons created to represent my design and illustration work individually show different aims. In the icon for Design, the hands hold the ideas our for the public to see, while the Illustration icon represents a more inward process.

Colors & Typography

In order to be objective, I conducted a fun, casual survey amongst my peers to see how they saw me. Warm, inviting and open spirit were some of the responses. I personally love the warmth of Psychedelic Design so I looked to that time for inspiration in color and typography.

In addition to this, I chose to forgo the serif typeface in my initial designs for the website.

User Experience

Thinking about the who would primarily be viewing my portfolio, I knew my primary audience would be recruiters or potential employers. Knowing this, and knowing that the design market is full of beautiful projects, I chose to highlight attributes of my person that I think make distinguish my work. After all, good design is only good because of the thinking behind it. And YOU are testing it right now, so if you have any feedback feel free to holler at me!
